12 April 2011 - Pistoia Alliance Conference
The Pistoia Alliance, a global, non-profit, precompetitive alliance of life science companies, technology vendors, publishers, and academics,held its first conference and members’ meeting on April 12, 2011, at the campus of Thomson Reuters in Boston, MA. The event, which was only announced at the beginning of March, reached attendance capacity in just one week. Nearly 100 attendees representing about 45 pharma and biotech companies, instrumentation and software vendors, publishers, and academic institutions attended the conference. Those in attendance praised the conference's energy and focus.

- Demonstrations of the four proofs of concept developed for the Pistoia Alliance sequence services project, which aims to help organizations store and mine proprietary and public gene data using shared, hosted systems
