We are pleased to announce the full agenda for our 2015 US Conference. If you'd like to attend, please register now! The two-day event has been planned to provide a good mix of content for the benefit of our members and friends alike, using a greater number of panel discussions to facilitate debate and discussion.
A newly launched business plan contest will ask startup companies from around the world to develop new ideas to lower the barriers to innovation in life sciences R&D. The Pistoia Alliance President’s Startup Challenge 2015 will see small and medium enterprises compete for up to two cash prizes of US$15,000 and a period of expert mentorship from a senior industry figure drawn from the Pistoia Alliance membership.
The Map of Alliances project will catalogue the various life sciences consortia, partnerships, foundations and alliances in the life sciences sector and investigate how these collaborative efforts form an interconnected web of partnerships.
With the increased use of big data in research projects, the ethical implications are increasingly coming to the forefront. As the technology advances and new applications for big data are developed, there is a growing interest in ensuring that the effect on science and society is positive.
Lowering Barriers to R&D Innovation
We are a global, not-for-profit alliance of life science companies, vendors, publishers, and academic groups that work together to lower barriers to innovation in R&D.
Our projects transform R&D innovation through pre-competitive collaboration. We bring together the key constituents to identify the root causes that lead to R&D inefficiencies. We develop best practices and technology pilots to overcome common obstacles.
Our members collaborate as equals on open projects that generate significant value for the worldwide life sciences community.
With the launch of our Interactive Project Portfolio Platform (IP3) we are embracing a new level of openness, access, and transparency around our idea-to-project process. The platform is open to the public to submit new ideas, comment and vote on proposed ideas, and monitor the progress of our projects.
The Pistoia Alliance contributed its opinions in an editorial on microbiomics in the FT on November 6th.
Removing silos and pooling expertise will change medical research and benefit more patients.
