Date(s) - 12 Oct 2020 - 10 Mar 2021
Our second datathon is dedicated to finding a cure to Diffuse Intrinsic Pontine Glioma (DIPG). This is a rare (1000 cases a year worldwide) and deadly form of cancer in children. Over the last 50 years the understanding of DIPG as a heterogeneous group of tumors requiring a personalized medicine approach has vastly improved, but the cure is still elusive. In partnership with the scientific publisher Elsevier, the Swiss DIPG Center of Expertise, Zurich (“DCEz”), the DIPG Research Institute, and the Anti-Cancer Fund, we aim to address three main challenges:
- Identify molecular subgroups of DIPG
- Identify suitable therapeutic targets in these subgroups (by analysis of driver mutations or gene expression profiles)
- Assess already known drugs against these targets using both known and predicted new drug/target interactions
We plan to start the research work in the fourth quarter of 2020, and this means that all interested teams and individual scientists should register for the datathon now. To express interest please fill out this form. Research teams will be confirmed prior to the Pistoia Alliance Autumn Oct 2020 conference in Boston.
