Global Knowledge-Sharing Initative
Boston, May 14, 2021: The Pistoia Alliance has the mission to “lower barriers to innovation in life science R&D and Healthcare. This is a global mission. To support this, the Pistoia Alliance is widening its knowledge-sharing vision and activities into the Asia-Pacific region with a dedicated outreach initiative to engage with the life sciences and healthcare communities in Japan, China, and India to provide some specific examples of where the pre-competitive collaboration, shared-risk, shared-reward model can bring benefit.
We are developing an exciting program of knowledge-sharing events and new collaborative projects in which R&D leaders working in life science and healthcare can participate. As a global, not-for-profit member’ organization dedicated to lowering the barriers to innovation in healthcare and life sciences R&D through pre-competitive collaboration, the Pistoia Alliance is committed to enabling collaborative innovation on a regional and global level.
Some good example activities include the implementation of the FAIR Data Principles, Quantum Computing Community, and Lab of the Future Community, exploiting real-world data and artificial intelligence to provide patient stratification to optimize the patient experience and healthcare budgets.

About the Pistoia Alliance
The Pistoia Alliance is a global, not-for-profit members’ organization made up of life science companies, technology, and service providers, publishers, and academic groups working to lower barriers to innovation in life science and healthcare R&D. It was conceived in 2007 and incorporated in 2009 by representatives of AstraZeneca, GSK, Novartis, and Pfizer who met at a conference in Pistoia, Italy. Its projects transform R&D through pre-competitive collaboration. It overcomes common R&D obstacles by identifying the root causes, developing standards and best practices, sharing pre-competitive data and knowledge, and implementing technology pilots. There are currently over 150 member companies; members collaborate on projects that generate significant value for the worldwide life sciences R&D community, using The Pistoia Alliance’s proven framework for open innovation.
