Pistoia Alliance Continues to Attract New Members

Latest members include DNAnexus, Genexyx, Vermilion Life Sciences, Tessella, and a top ten pharma

Wilmington, DE, 7th July 2015 – The Pistoia Alliance, a global, not-for-profit alliance of organizations that work together to lower barriers to innovation in life science R&D, has attracted a number of new members from across the industry.

New additions in the last quarter include a top ten pharmaceutical company joining as a Core member, and DNAnexus and Tessella as Participating members. Genexyx and Vermilion Life Sciences both join as Contributing members. Growth at the Pistoia Alliance continues apace with the membership having expanded by no less than eighteen new members in 2015 alone, taking its total membership to 93.

Richard Holland, Executive Director Operations at the Pistoia Alliance commented: “It is great to see so much interest in the work of the Pistoia Alliance from such a wide range of companies, large and small, and from all corners of the sector. This puts the Alliance on an ever stronger footing to continue developing and delivering innovative projects that stand to benefit everyone in the life science R&D community.”

2015 has been a particularly successful year for the Pistoia Alliance. There has been increased uptake of the outputs from HELM (Hierarchical Editing Language for Macromolecules), continued efforts to investigate the Chinese and South American domains in the CSCS (Controlled Substance Compliance Services) Expert Community, and two brand new projects started: Ontologies Mapping, and the Map of Alliances.

In addition, the Pistoia Alliance has just announced its President’s Startup Challenge 2015, a business plan contest that challenges startup companies from around the world to develop new ideas to lower the barriers to innovation in life science R&D. Entrants will compete to win US$15k and six months of mentorship from a senior industry professional.
