Informed Consent Blockchain

This project built a solution for Informed Consent in clinical trials and implemented key components of decentralized digital identities

Overview

The Pistoia Alliance led a collaborative effort to help the life sciences industry get the most out of blockchain technology. Focusing on how the technology could be used to enhance clinical trials, this project built a solution for Informed Consent in clinical trials called BlockSent, and implemented key components of decentralized digital identities: Decentralised Identifiers (DIDs), Verifiable Credentials (VCs), and a blockchain registry.

To support members in realizing the value of blockchain, a number of activities were undertaken to educate the industry about blockchain and support knowledge and skills sharing. This included devising practical life science R&D use cases that would deliver a clear return on investment to the industry.
