London, United Kingdom, May 6th, 2014: The Pistoia Alliance (), as part of its “Next Chapter” initiative to expand its project portfolio and build on its substantial position as a life sciences open innovation thought leader, announced that Richard Holland will be joining the organisation to focus on Operations. Richard will take the lead on delivering a portfolio of diverse and complex initiatives with geographically-spread, virtual teams of talented individuals. Richard comes with a wealth of experience within the life sciences industry, having spent the last six years at Eagle Genomics where he was instrumental in forming the company and developing it to its current position as an expert provider of bioinformatics software and services across a wide range of the life science and other sectors.
In June 2014, Richard will join the Pistoia Alliance as Executive Director of Operations to continue the Pistoia Alliance’s recent success in providing innovative solutions to common problems in life science R&D. Richard said “I am excited to start a new challenge within The Pistoia Alliance and look forward to working with the team to develop further their innovative project portfolio. I am fortunate to be joining an organisation with a growing reputation for being the ‘go-to’, cross-company alliance that provides a truly pre-competitive, actively supported, open innovation environment.”
Michael Braxenthaler, President of the Pistoia Alliance said “Richard’s experience in the life science R&D industry and his knowledge of growing start-up companies makes him a key addition to our unique, cross-company organisation. We view Richard’s appointment as a sign of our commitment to the development of the Pistoia Alliance and its “Next Chapter” initiative. Our new project portfolio, supported by our new Interactive Project Portfolio Platform (IP3) and an increasing number of member opportunities, led us to look for an addition to our operations team who will fit in with our ethos of innovation and service. We are very fortunate to find someone of Richard’s calibre to fulfil this position. Richard will play a key role in providing and implementing high quality services for our members.”
Abel Ureta-Vidal, CEO of Eagle Genomics, added: “While sad to see Richard leave Eagle, we are delighted his talents will continue to be applied in life sciences. Eagle has been a strong supporter of the Pistoia Alliance since its foundation, and we look forward to the two organisations continuing to work closely together.”
